A Delegation from the National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training Meets with the Minister of Culture to Discuss Support for Palestinian Crafts and Heritage Industries

A delegation from the National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, headed by H.E. Prof. Rabeh Morrar, President of the Commission, and with the participation of Eng. Hisham Salama, Vice President of the Commission, met with H.E. Prof. Imad Hamdan, Minister of Culture, and Mr. Ibrahim Alwan, Director General of Heritage. The meeting was held as part of efforts to strengthen joint cooperation between the two sides in support of Palestinian cultural heritage and the development of related vocational skills.

During the meeting, a number of ideas and initiatives of mutual interest were discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of developing technical and vocational training programs related to Palestinian traditional crafts and heritage industries, and of enabling youth to acquire the skills needed to preserve and further develop these professions in a manner that contributes to strengthening national identity and supporting economic development.

The two sides also agreed to hold a series of joint technical meetings to develop practical cooperation mechanisms and identify training priorities related to traditional crafts, cultural industries, and creative industries. These efforts aim to ensure the transfer of heritage knowledge and expertise to future generations, while providing quality training and qualification opportunities in this field.

The National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training affirmed that it will give special attention to training programs related to culture, heritage, and Palestinian handicraft products by developing specialized training pathways and apprenticeship programs that contribute to enhancing the capacities of workers and artisans and improving employment opportunities in this vital sector.

The two sides also discussed the idea of establishing a specialized Skills Council for crafts, heritage industries, and cultural industries. The proposed council would support this direction by contributing to the development of occupational standards, identifying skills needs, and keeping pace with relevant developments, in a way that ensures the preservation and development of authentic Palestinian heritage according to modern professional standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of unifying national efforts to preserve Palestinian heritage and traditional crafts in all their forms, as an integral part of Palestinian national identity and an important resource for economic and social development. They also emphasized that supporting these sectors represents a shared priority that requires continued work and coordination among various national institutions.
