The National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training Discusses Cooperation with the International Labour Organization to Support the Gaza Strip

The National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training held a meeting with representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to discuss prospects for joint cooperation, particularly in relation to supporting the technical and vocational education and training sector in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting was chaired on behalf of the Commission by H.E. Prof. Rabah Morrar, President of the Commission, with the participation of Eng. Hisham Salameh, Vice President of the Commission. Representing the International Labour Organization were Mr. Daniel Cork, Mr. Salah Hammad, and Ms. Rasha Al-Sharafa.

During the meeting, participants were briefed on the current situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as the key challenges and needs in the field of technical and vocational education and training. Ideas and perspectives were also exchanged on potential areas of cooperation between the two sides, including mechanisms through which the National Commission could contribute to the efforts implemented by the ILO to support the sector and strengthen its resilience under the current circumstances.

The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the areas of rehabilitation and vocational training, skills development, and support for initiatives aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and economic empowerment, particularly for affected groups and youth. These efforts align with recovery and sustainable development priorities and contribute to building the capacities of human resources and preparing them to enter the labor market.

Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership and maintaining continuous coordination during the coming phase, while working to develop joint programs and initiatives that respond to the current and future needs of the Gaza Strip. Such efforts would contribute to supporting economic and social development, and improving employment and productivity opportunities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue technical consultations, exchange expertise and information, and hold upcoming technical meetings between the teams of the National Commission and the International Labour Organization. These meetings aim to develop joint working mechanisms and translate the ideas and proposals discussed into practical implementation steps, ensuring complementarity between national and international efforts and maximizing the impact of programs and projects directed toward serving the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
