Dr. Rabeh Morrar Discusses the State of TVET in Palestine on Shabab FM

During a radio interview on Shabab FM, Dr. Rabeh Morrar, President of the National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NTC), discussed the current state of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Palestine, the key challenges facing the sector, and ways to strengthen its position as a first-choice pathway for Palestinian youth.

He also addressed the importance of aligning specializations and skills with labor market needs, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and the role of TVET in recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. In addition, he highlighted the need to further develop the higher education system at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in line with evolving labor market requirements.

Dr. Morrar emphasized that the required transformation is to move from a system centered on the question, “What did you study?” to one that focuses on the more important questions: “What can you do? What skills do you have, and which of these skills are needed by the labor market?” This shift would enhance employment opportunities and strengthen the connection between education and training, the economy, and labor market needs.
