The National Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training held, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the meeting of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Sector Working Group at its headquarters in Ramallah, with the participation of representatives from government institutions, the private sector, civil society organizations, development partners, and international organizations supporting the sector.

The meeting was opened with remarks by the Chair of the Sector Working Group and President of the National Commission, the Deputy Chair of the Group representing the German Government, and the Technical Advisor to the Group representing the International Labour Organization. The remarks emphasized the importance of unifying national and international efforts and strengthening institutional coordination to support the development of the technical and vocational education and training system in Palestine.

During the meeting, the National Commission presented its annual plan for 2026, which aims to consolidate the Commission’s role as a national reference body for leading sectoral policies, strengthening governance, developing coordination mechanisms among partners, building a data- and evidence-based system, and linking technical and vocational education and training outcomes with labour market needs.

The meeting also discussed the strategic priorities for the coming phase, foremost among them the activation of Sector Skills Councils, the promotion of work-based learning, the development of the National Qualifications Framework, the improvement of career guidance and counselling tools, and the development of a national sector information system. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of training programmes and improve employment opportunities for youth.

The National Commission affirmed that this meeting represents an important milestone in strengthening partnership and sectoral coordination, and in unifying efforts towards building a more efficient, resilient, and responsive technical and vocational education and training system that meets the needs of development and the labour market in Palestine.

The National Commission also expressed its appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Local Aid Coordination Secretariat (LACS) of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and International Cooperation in coordinating and organizing the meeting, which contributed to enhancing partners’ participation and ensuring the success of the Sector Working Group’s work.
